We support education professionals to make a difference in the classroom, school and wider community through access to a wide range of professional learning and leadership opportunities.

Our online activities and resources enable you to engage with learning within your own secure account area, search for high-quality programmes of learning and access materials which support professional learning and leadership across the education system in Scotland.

The Education Scotland Professional Learning and Leadership Directorate has the strategic responsibility for ensuring high quality professional learning for educators across Scotland. As part of this role we host the national model of professional learning on behalf of the system. The model of professional learning identifies the principles and features of effective learning that will build capacity and promote collaborative practices.

We have also endorsed professional learning programmes for educators from external providers. A programme which has been previously endorsed by Education Scotland demonstrates that it is informed by the national model of professional learning and links effectively to the relevant professional standards and current policy context. Professional learning programmes previously endorsed by Education Scotland and facilitated by external providers are searchable from the programmes page.

Within Education Scotland, we have currently paused the endorsement process whilst we review of the process ahead of the transition to the refocused agency from autumn 2025.
